In celebration of St. Patrick’s day, I thought I’d share my favorite green smoothie with you! There’s no better way to start St. Patrick’s day than with this vibrant Matcha Green Tea Smoothie.
At the very least it will help you feel less guilty about all that green beer you’ll be drinking today, but thanks to the matcha, you’ll also get a sustained energy boost to help you power through a long day of festivities.
Did I mention how beautifully green matcha is?
Matcha is insanely popular right, now I even use it in my desserts like these matcha pistachio balls!
Matcha is actually extremely good for you too.
It’s absolutely packed with antioxidants, gives you all day energy, and even boosts your metabolism.
That’s right, this matcha smoothie is great for weight loss!
Matcha owes a lot of its magic to L-Theanine, an amino acid found in abundance in green tea leaves. L-theanine enhances brain function and slows the release of caffiene found in matcha.
This results in a non-speedy energy boost that lasts all day. L-Theanine has even been shown to improve your mood, similar to theobromine in raw cacao.
You can find matcha at most health food stores, but I save close to 30% on my grocery bill by getting my superfoods like matcha and my other dry goods from Thrive Market!
To stay with the healthy green theme, kale and spinach make up the majority of this smoothie. Leafy greens are nutrient rich, alkalizing, and great for heart and brain health – they’re a staple in my superfood smoothie recipes.
Mango, pineapple, and banana are added to give the smoothie a refreshing tropical flavor. Who knew being healthy could taste so good?
I try to drink this smoothie every morning. It’s just so delicious and I love starting my day with a healthy serving of superfoods like matcha and kale. You can even add other superfoods to boost your smoothie to the next level!
If you’re looking for more green smoothies try out this spinach apple cleanser or this mango kiwi tropical smoothie!
