Drinking detox water for weight loss is one of the easiest and tastiest ways to naturally boost metabolism and suppress appetite!
In fact, a proper water intake is one of the fastest ways to lose weight – in addition to a myriad of other benefits like increased energy and glowing skin.
But what about water weight?
Contrary to popular belief, drinking more water actually helps you lose water weight. When your body is dehydrated or overloaded with sodium and sugar, it holds onto water as a safety reserve. A properly hydrated body is not only healthier, but it is less likely to retain unneeded water!
Infused Water to lose weight
Detox or “infused” waters are a delicious way to get your daily recommended 8-12 cups of water. Detox water isn’t just more flavorful than normal water, it’s actually healthier too!
While the flavors are infusing into your detox water, some of the water soluble vitamins and minerals also get infused with little to no added calories! This makes detox water even better for weight loss compared to normal water.
You won’t be getting the full value that you would be from consuming the whole fruit or vegetable, but the added nutritional boost is an awesome bonus!
If you want a more potent dose of all these nourishing vitamins and minerals then I recommend trying an at home detox juice cleanse!
Fresh Tip: Be sure to use a glass pitcher when making detox water. Some acidic fruits like citrus can eat away at plastic containers, filling your healthy infusion with trace amounts of nasty chemicals!

5. Citrus Rainbow Water
This rainbow of citrus fruits features an array of colors and flavors with grapefruit, oranges, limes, and lemons. Getting a variety of colors in your diet is essential because each color represents a different nutrient profile. Citrus fruits in particular are low in calories, high in Vitamin C, and offer a variety of health benefits which make this rainbow a beautiful detox water for weight loss!
Fresh Tip: For the best flavor and to speed up the infusion process, slice your ingredients as thin as possible. This makes it easier for the water to absorb all those wonderful flavors and nutrients!
6. Blackberry Mint Water
This detox water tastes just as good as it looks (which is pretty darn good)! Blackberries give a slightly sweet infusion to the water while the crisp, fresh mint adds a refreshing finish. Mint is a detox water classic thanks to it’s digestion aiding properties, but blackberries are a unique (and mouthwatering) twist. Blackberries are also rich in anthocyanin, a powerful cancer-fighting antioxidant!
7. Healing Cucumber Aloe Water
Aloe Vera, also known as the “plant of immortality” is more than just a health food “fad”. Oh, and did I mention that this drink is packed full of beta carotene (a powerful antioxidant), folate, and a variety of vitamins and minerals? Healthy, refreshing, delicious!
12. Blue Raspberry Detox Water
If you’re drinking detox water for weight loss then berries are a go to ingredient. They’re an energy dense food that’s high in fiber and antioxidants but low in calories. This recipe combines two of my favorites – blueberries and raspberries, for a nutritionally dense and delightfully flavorful detox water. This recipe is great when you’re craving a sweet drink but don’t want those extra calories or added sugar!
13. Raspberry Peach Basil Water
When it comes to detox waters, the flavor combinations are endless. This leads to some super interesting combinations – peach, basil, and raspberry water is one of those unique flavor combos and it doesn’t just work, it’s AMAZING. The bright colors from the raspberries and peaches look incredible and their flavors pair together perfectly. A touch of basil adds a subtle edge to this detox water without overpowering the flavor.
Fresh Tip: Prepare your detox water the night before and let it infuse overnight. Detox waters need at least 2 hours of infusion time before the water starts to take on flavors and nutrients. The longer you let it sit, the stronger the infusion gets.
14. Pomegranate Infused Water for Weight Loss
This refreshing detox water my new go to flavor! Pomegranates are one of my favorite fruits. They’re super high in antioxidants (even higher than green tea or red wine), vitamin-rich, and have been shown to reduce inflammation in the gut. Tarragon is no slouch either, it’s a powerful digestive aid and antibacterial herb. The sweet pomegranate flavors are a perfect pair for the anise-licorice flavor of tarragon.
15. Detox Spa Water
This cleansing recipe has got all the classic detox water ingredients that I love. It’s packed with citrus, mint, and cucumbers! Grapefruit makes this a great detox water recipe for weight loss thanks to it’s fat-burning properties. The tangerines and mandarins add a nutritious punch of vitamin C. The citrus flavors are a perfect match for cooling cucumber and soothing fresh mint which all combine for a super refreshing detox water.
16. Lime Infused Water
This detox water recipe is as simple as it gets with just one ingredient- fresh lime! But don’t let the simplicity fool you, lime water is not only delicious, but it’s actually super good for you. Limes are rich in potassium and magnesium which helps to promote heart health by lowering blood pressure and improving circulation. They are also an excellent source of citric acid which has been shown to boost metabolism!
17. Cherry Mint Detox Water
Mint is a staple ingredient when it comes to detox waters, but cherries were totally new to me until I stumbled upon this recipe. Cherries have a very unique sour-sweet or tart flavor that is a perfect match with the cooling flavors of mint. This detox water is super refreshing and is my new go to recipe for summer picnics or BBQ’s!
Fresh Tip: Get the most out of your detox waters by refilling them! The fruits, vegetables, and herbs will continue to infuse their flavors and nutrients into the water for up to a few days. Keep refilling your pitcher or dispenser and infusing overnight until the water starts to lose flavor (usually 3-4 refills depending on the recipe).
18. Summer Refresh Water
This refreshing detox water is simple, sweet, and delicious – the perfect summer hydrator. This recipe combines cucumber, strawberries and pink grapefruit for a replenishing drink to beat that summer heat! Cucumbers are great in infused water recipes thanks to their soothing flavor and revitalizing properties. Nothing says summer like fresh strawberries and their sweet flavor goes great in this recipe. The pink grapefruit adds a tropical citrus flavor that really ties things together!
19. Immune Boosting Infused Water
I love drinking detox waters in the summer because they are super refreshing and hydrating, but a proper water intake is just as important in the winter. This detox water recipe is great for those colder months thanks to its immune boosting properties. One cup of kiwi contains 273% of your daily value of vitamin C and just a handful of strawberries can have more vitamin C than an orange! This vitamin C packed detox water is a delicious way to stay healthy during cold and flu season.
20. Cucumber Orange Detox Water
This recipe combines my two favorite detox water ingredients – cucumbers and oranges into one deliciously hydrating infusion. Citrus fruits are great for detox water because their strong flavors easily infuse into the water, but this can lead to a sour or bitter water if you’re not careful. Oranges on the other hand have a much more desirable sweet and zesty flavor while maintaining the strong infusion properties of citrus fruits! The strong orange flavor paired with calming cucumber and a hint of mint makes for a truly delightful infused water.
Lisa A Judkins
Hello I am a healthy eater but I am having alot of bloating in my lower belly and I hate looking like I’m 6 months preggo. I know pineapple is great for inflammation and so is tumuric and ginger is their a drink I can make with coconut water and these ingredients to help please?
I have a delicious green smoothie recipe that actually uses all of those ingredients here.
Also any of the detox water recipes in this post would be great for relieving bloating in the lower belly. Getting a proper water intake of 8+ cups per day will keep your body hydrated which actually helps it to hold on to less water. This will reduce bloating.
